Apple Butter Pie Recipe
Do you like pumpkin pie? If that answer is yes, then you will love my apple butter pie. It has a similar texture and flavor as pumpkin pie in a buttery pastry crust.
I love being able to use our home-canning goods like my apple butter in my dinner or dessert recipes. This recipe is no different as the key ingredient of flavor is apple and cinnamon. But you can definitely use the store-bought variety.
Apple butter pie makes a great and different dessert for the holidays. I made it for the family gathering at Thanksgiving and it was devoured. Someone requested me to make it again next year.

Apple Butter Pie
Ingredients
Pie Crust
- 1 ¼ cup all purpose flour …[$0.29]
- 1 Tbsp. white granulated sugar …[$0.02]
- ¼ tsp. salt …[$0.03]
- ½ stick butter cold…[$0.50]
- ¼ cup vegetable shortening cold…[$0.16]
- 2 Tbsp. ice water …[$0]
Apple Butter Filling
- 2 large eggs …[$0.46]
- ½ cup white granulated sugar …[$0.15]
- 2 Tbsp. corn starch …[$0.06]
- 1 tsp apple pie spice …[$0.20]
- ½ cup apple butter …[$0.64]
- 2 cups milk …[$0.46]
Instructions
Pie Crust
- Combine flour, sugar, and salt together. Then blend in cold butter and cold shortening along with water.
- Fold dough in plastic and set in refrigerator until ready to use or at least 30 minutes.
- Roll dough and press in a 9″ pie plate.
Apple Butter Filling
- Beat together eggs with sugar. Then add cornstarch, spice, apple butter, and milk.
- Pour filling into unbaked pie crust. The amount will be very liquidy and it will reach to the top of the pie. Be careful when placing in the oven.
- Bake at 375°F for about 60 minutes or until the center is set and gives a slight jiggle. Be sure to cover the crust edges if they become too brown before the rest of the pie has time to bake.
- Let pie cool before cutting in and serving. Keep in refrigerator.
