Old Fashioned Apple Crisp Dessert
This version of an old fashion apple crisp is a twist of a Dutch apple pie. It has the perfect apple pie filling baked in a deep casserole dish topped with a sweetened oatmeal strudel. Both also go amazing with vanilla ice cream and whipping cream.
The only difference between a Dutch apple pie and this recipe is the crust. A typical crisp is missing the buttery crust on the bottom. This is the main reason a crisp dessert is so much faster and easier to make than an apple pie. Popping a mason jar of homemade apple pie filling also makes this a quick recipe. I can prep this dessert in about 10 minutes.
I can make many other fruit crisps with any flavor pie filling goes great with a typical strudel topping; blueberry, peach, cherry, the list goes on. But really, apple crisp is my and my family’s most favorite flavor.

Our cost to make this recipe.
This recipe is already relatively inexpensive at about $0.63 per serving. I can reduce my price by growing my apples and making homemade apple pie filling and preserving it all in a water bath canner. The ice cream on top making the dessert à la mode is extra. That will increase the price but not by too much.
