Cast-Iron Skillet Chicken Cacciatore Recipe
Yum. Yum. Yummy! This rustic chicken cacciatore made in a cast-iron skillet is not only easy to cook but is delicious to eat. Made with classic Italian seasonings like basil, oregano, and onion, this dish has an immense burst of great flavor and not a lot of ingredients, making it easy peasy. The family and I truly love this recipe on colder nights.
This recipe includes macaroni noodles as a base for the chicken, but you can easily make this gluten-free with Gluten free Macaroni Noodles.

Cast Iron Chicken Cacciatore
Ingredients
- 4 large boneless chicken breasts, pounded…[$5.00]
- 2 Tbsp. butter, …[$0.25]
- 2 cloves garlic, minced…[$0.20]
- 6 oz. mushrooms, …[$2.00]
- 1 Tbsp. dry basil, …[$0.54]
- 1 Tbsp. dry oregano, …[$0.54]
- 1 Tbsp. dry minced onion, …[$0.40]
- 2 medium tomatoes, cut into large chunks…[$1.34]
- ¾ cup chicken broth, …[$0.26]
- 1 lb. macaroni noodles, …[$1.00]
Instructions
- In a seasoned cast-iron skillet, sear all the chicken breast and set aside on a plate.
- Melt butter and add garlic, mushrooms, basil, oregano, and onion in a skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until veggies are soft and fragrant.
- Add tomatoes and chicken broth. Simmer for about 15 minutes to reduce the liquid. Add chicken back to the skillet and cover with lid or foil.
- Preheat the oven to 350 °F. Bake for one hour. Prepare and cook macaroni noodles according to package and serve hot together .
