Cast Iron Sugar Cream Cake Recipe
An absolute new favorite cake for this
My husband was requesting an apple pie lately. But I really didn’t want to roll out pie dough. I didn’t want to go through all the mess so I came up with this sweet cake. Warmed up some of my canned apple pie filling to top it off and just for an added delectable measure, some vanilla ice cream. It was so good that my husband completely forgot he wanted apple pie. That was a win-win for everyone!
Another win is being able to use my Lodge Pre-Seasoned 9-Inch Skillet. These pans are so excellent for this recipe plus many others. You can try my fantastic roasted chicken with honey, pears, and thyme or how about chicken dijonnaisse in a cast iron skillet. These pans can last nearly forever if you take care of them properly. I personally have been replacing many of my used up stainless steel pots and pans with more cast iron.
Cost to make this recipe.
The calculation total I came up with was about $4.63 for the entire cast iron skillet cream cake or about $0.58 per serving slice. This total doesn’t include a delicious topping though. You can add relatively inexpensive ice cream or pie filling to make this dessert amazing.
