Cinnamon Swirl Bread and Rolls Recipe
Add a sweet brown sugar and cinnamon paste to this soft white bread to make this amazing cinnamon swirl bread for your next breakfast or dinner. It is just as easy to make this bread as it is any other white or wheat bread. The only extra step is rolling out the dough like you would cinnamon rolls. Then spreading on the paste made of melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
To make this extra special and more like the traditional cinnamon raisin bread, add soaked raisin to the cinnamon sugar paste. Soak about one cup of raisins in enough rum to cover the raisins for about 10-20 minutes. Then sprinkle them on top of the spread the cinnamon sugar butter paste and roll up the dough like stated below. You can also add some chopped nuts or even 1/4 tsp. of vanilla extract to the cinnamon sugar paste.
This recipe makes two large loaves, or you can turn this dough into rolls. Or even a mixture of both one loaf and 14-16 rolls. To make rolls, just cut the pieces into smaller pieces and roll out like stated earlier. These rolls are great for a sweet dinner roll or even for breakfast.
Cost to make this recipe.
I calculated this wonderful bread at about $5.16 for the entire recipe. That includes either two bread loaves or one loaf and a basket of bread rolls. There aren’t any homesteader ways to reduce the price of this recipe at our home.

Cinnamon Swirl Bread and Rolls
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp active yeast, …[$0.78]
- 1 tbsp white granulated sugar, …[$0.02]
- 1 cup warm water, 105 °F…[$0]
- 8 cups all purpose flour, unbleached…[$1.84]
- 3 large eggs, …[$0.69]
- ½ cup white granulated sugar, …[$0.15]
- 1½ cup milk, room temperature…[$0.35]
- 3 tbsp. cinnamon, …[$0.36]
- 1 cup brown sugar, …[$0.47]
- 1 tbsp water, …[$0]
- ½ stick butter, melted…[$0.50]
Instructions
- In a measuring cup or bowl add warm water, 1 tbsp. white sugar, and active yeast together, mix and let sit for 5 minutes to activate yeast.
- In a large bowl add flour, eggs, ½ cup white sugar, and milk. Knead dough for about 15 minutes or until dough is smooth. Place a towel over bowl and put let dough double in size in a warm place. A tip for this is to turn on the oven for 30-60 seconds and then turn off. Place bowl in oven and let rise in a warm oven.
- Afterward, punch down dough, take out of bowl and knead on counter. Divide dough in half. You can make either 2 bread loaves or 1 bread loaf and 14-16 rolls. To make rolls, divide the second half into further equal pieces.
- Roll out either each piece of roll and/or bread dough in a rectangular form.
- Mix together cinnamon, brown sugar, water, and melted butter until a cinnamon sugar paste is made. Spread mixture evenly onto each rolled out dough.
- Roll up the dough, pinch the ends and mend the seams. Place in a greased and floured bread pan or rolls in a baking dish. Put towel over top and let rise again for 30-60 minutes.
- Bake at 350 °F for 30 minutes. If the top of bread becomes too dark before time is up, then place a sheet of aluminum foil on top.
- When all is baked, remove bread from oven and let cool on wire rack.
