Date Walnut Pecan Pie Recipe
The husband loves southern pecan pie. He requests it every fall when our pecans start falling from the trees in the backyard. I finally decided to change it up ever so slightly with this date and walnut pecan pie.
This pie is very similar to the original pecan pie that everyone used to but different in many ways too. The pie, as a whole, is a little denser than its counterpart. Along with the pecan nuts it has the added walnuts to give it a nutty crunch and flavor. The chopped dates also make it “heartier” and with a bit more chewy texture. A little slice of the pie goes a long way.
My date and walnut pecan pie goes perfectly with vanilla ice cream and whipping cream, if you prefer. You should try it for your next holiday dessert table and see how many people will love to switch from the typical pecan pie to this one.
Cost to make this recipe.
The nut-filled pie costs roughly $6.90 for one medium
