Gulaschsuppe: Authentic German Beef and Noodle Soup Recipe
German gulaschsuppe is indeed a beloved comfort food in many German households. It’s a hearty and flavorful soup that combines tender chunks of beef with a rich, paprika-infused broth. This dish has a strong Hungarian influence, as goulash hails from Hungary, but it has become a staple in German cuisine as well..
The combination of tender meat, savory broth, and the warm, earthy flavors of paprika make it a favorite during the colder months, providing both sustenance and comfort. It’s often served with a side of bread or noodles, and it’s also common to add potatoes or vegetables to the soup.
Gulaschsuppe is not only delicious but also quite versatile. Families may have their own variations of the recipe, adding ingredients like bell peppers, carrots, or even a touch of cream for a different twist on the classic. Regardless of the specific recipe, it’s a meal that brings people together and reminds them of home.
It’s wonderful to hear that you have fond memories of enjoying gulaschsuppe in your German household. Food can be a powerful connection to culture and family traditions, and it’s no wonder that this dish holds a special place in your heart.
Cost to make this recipe
Growing some ingredients for your gulaschsuppe on your homestead can greatly reduce the cost of preparing this delicious meal.. Cooking with homegrown ingredients can be not only cost-effective but also rewarding and sustainable.
The meat portion of this recipe makes up the bulk of the price. I calculated the soup to cost around $16.72 or $4.18 per serving size. But there are a few ingredients I can grow on the homestead, like the garlic and onion powder, onions, tomato paste, beef broth, and paprika. My homesteader cost is closer to $9.90 or $2.48 per serving size.
