Homemade Pizza Dough Recipe
This is a fantastic basic dough for all things pizza, stromboli, calzone, garlic knots, breadsticks, and fried dough.
I make a lot of homemade meals to feed my hungry family. These meals tend to leave some leftovers for the next day. But it seems that the leftovers are never enough to feed four hungry people. I typically need to find a way to pull out four servings out of two. Making pizzas are perfect for this dilemma.
We love pizza for all of our leftover dinner ideas. When we don’t have enough corned beef, pulled pork, whole chicken, etc. from the night before that would serve four hungry family members then it is best to spread it out on a pizza with other great ingredients. Random veggies in the fridge or from the garden also help to add a great flavor to my unique leftover pizza recipes.
But I don’t always just make pizza if I only have leftovers. I love to come up with great unique recipes or make the old standard pepperoni and cheese pizzas. A family favorite among the kiddos is to make individual pizzas and decorate and add toppings themselves. It is a great way to have a fun family time making dinner together.
This dough works great if you make a few batches ahead. Wrap up the dough to save it from freezer burn and pop them into the freezer. When you are ready to use it, just thaw and use like normal.
But unfortunately freezing the dough does change it slightly. The dough doesn’t have that great rise like it would have when you made it and baked it the same day. The freezing seems to destroy the yeast slightly but it is still great to eat. Especially when you have very little time to make fresh pizza dough every time you want to make pizza.
