Krispy Kreme Strawberry Shortcake Sundae Recipe
My Krispy Kreme Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream dessert is pure decadence—an indulgence that demands full attention. This is not a treat for vegans. It is not suitable for low-carb devotees (as I currently am) or those who are lactose intolerant. It is also not for the faint of heart. It’s rich, creamy, and unapologetically sweet, a dessert that rewards anyone brave enough to dive in. Soft, sugary Krispy Kreme doughnuts combined with luscious strawberry ice cream create an irresistible treat. Crumbly shortcake layers add to the delight. My girls devoured it with such enthusiasm. Not a word was spoken. Not a breath was taken as they savored every bite. It’s the kind of dessert that leaves a lasting impression. It’s a memorable indulgence. It beckons for seconds, thirds, and maybe even fourths.
I macerate fresh strawberries with white sugar. I allow them to sit at room temperature. Their natural juices are drawn out, creating a sweet, flavorful syrup. This syrup perfectly complements any dessert. This simple process enhances the berries’ natural sweetness while softening them slightly, giving them a luscious texture. If you prefer a warm syrup, double the sugar. Heat the strawberries gently over low to medium heat in a saucepan. This method produces the same rich, juicy result. Additionally, the warmth is perfect for drizzling over ice cream, shortcake, or pancakes. Either way, the strawberries become a decadent, aromatic component that elevates any dish they accompany.
Try out different fresh fruits beside strawberries. Blueberries, peaches, and cherries can create a completely unique dessert.
The recipe is an easy and quick dessert to fling together. Macerating the berries takes the most time. I suggest doing this step first. Then, set up the remaining elements. I take out my ice cream and let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes. This makes it easier to scoop out.
Cost to make the recipe.
The total cost for my dessert recipe is roughly around $13.04 or $2.17 per dessert serving size.
The prices of donuts, ice cream, and strawberries can vary depending on your location. They also depend on any huge sales available to you. I like to use my fresh garden strawberries so that way it is free. Sometimes Krispy Kreme has great sales for their original glazed donuts. It is worthwhile to check these sales out before making it.
