Orange Creamsicle Fruit Leather Recipe
With my husband taking yearly backpacking trips on the Appalachian Trail and multiple family fun camping trips, I like to come up with fun and unique snacks for both adults and kids. Fruit leather is a great family favorite in this household. When I was trolling the frozen food sections, I noticed the frozen juice concentrated. Since dehydrating takes away the water portion of food, then why not use concentrated juices for some of the great fruit leathers. You can also try my Strawberry Lemonade Fruit Leather that uses concentrated lemonade juice.
This fruit leather uses orange juice concentrate and then is sweetened up with your favorite vanilla yogurt. I use regular yogurt and not Greek yogurt. If you love Greek yogurt, then I suggest experimenting with some. Maybe use half the amount since Greek yogurt is much thicker. This is a tangy and sweet orange creamsicle fruit leather that you could never buy in your local grocery store. And all made using my handy dandy Nesco American Harvest Fruit Roll-Up Sheet for Dehydrators and Nesco Snackmaster Express Food Dehydrator.
Cost to make this recipe.
There are only three ingredients in this recipe. We, as homesteaders, make only one-third of the ingredients so far the applesauce. I would love to make my vanilla yogurt which hopefully would also reduce the price of this orange creamsicle fruit roll-up. But for right now, I can make this recipe for about $0.19 per serving slice. If you cut your pieces smaller, then the cost will also go down.
