Classic Baked Oatmeal Breakfast Casserole Recipe with Fresh Fruit Syrup
I can not tell you how perfect my classic baked oatmeal breakfast casserole is. Especially topped with fresh warm fruit syrup. Not only can you fix this meal the night before
I have been a fan of my baked French toast recipes, apple pie baked french toast, or the baked praline french toast both come to mind. This baked oatmeal is similar to those recipes. You combine all the ingredients in a casserole dish and let it sit overnight in the fridge, bake in the morning and enjoy.
I like to name the recipe a “classic” baked oatmeal because it is a basic plain oatmeal casserole and goes great with any kind of syrup. We all love making and eating fruit syrups made from fruit grown on the homestead. Strawberry is a regular here. Fruit syrups are simple too, one cup of any fruit (fresh or frozen), half cup of water, and one cup of white granulated sugar. Let simmer while the oatmeal is in the oven and you have a perfect sweet treat to top over.
Cost to make this recipe.
I have calculated the breakfast recipe to cost roughly $6.15 for both baked oatmeal casserole and fruit syrup. That comes to $0.68 per serving size, which is a great price for a breakfast staple.
As homesteaders, there are few ingredients I grow or make for free. My fresh fruit, eggs, and vanilla extract help to reduce my cost further. Our homesteader price comes to $3.93 or $0.44 per serving
