Shoutout to @auntieruthsdoughnuts in Limestone, TN! Thank you for being in Mitchell county N.C. giving away your delicious donuts. They were not only the sweetest treat we received in the last couple of weeks but by far the best donuts I had ever eaten. And so BIG! Krispy Kreme got nothing on these guys!!! Thanks for supporting WNC and we will be headed your way soon (when things get better) to try your pretzels!!!
Had a chinook nearly knock us over with their wind shockwave, landing in the high school baseball field yesterday. Wish I took better pics and video but that was intense! 😁
Thursday update:
Our beautiful downtown and surrounding areas of Spruce Pine and Bakersville have been devastated.
This is the bottom of our one lane road washed out on Friday. In times of need community comes together and our family cut the trees off the road today while another took his tractor and filled in that “ravine”. Other roads near us are more devastated than this. It is unbelievable the hit WNC took from Helene.
WNC has been hit hard from the hurricane. We watched from the cabin as tree after tree took each out. And luckily nothing hit our home or injured our family. Today we spent the day clearing our one lane road down the mountain, helped neighbor cut a tree off their car, and delivered water to others because they are on a well pump and we are so fortunate to be on a spring box which needs no electricity. It’s a long road ahead for western NC but we will get through it.
