Slow Cooker Turkey Vegetable Dumplings
Slow cooker turkey vegetable dumplings is one of the best recipes so far. I have tried to come up with many recipes that use up as much of our large meat roasts days after the original dinner. And I think I have done a pretty decent job so far.
I love my smoky turkey burritos with chipotle sour cream sauce or creamy turkey crepes with chipotle cranberry sauce? Those are two great ways to change up the boring same old turkey.
But now let’s swing back around this slow cooker turkey vegetable dumpling stew. Super easy to make because it takes little time to set up. It also uses the slow cooker so you can set it and go. Set it on low in the early afternoon, and it will be ready for you by dinner time.
I made the dumplings in a special way. Typically, it is just a basic dough for dishes like chicken and dumplings. But seriously, where’s the fun and WOW factor in that? I perked my dough up with handfuls of fresh herbs like chive, parsley, and thyme. All these came from my herb garden. The herbs gave such a distinct flavor to the entire meal.
I typically chop my stews full of vegetables along with meat. And this turkey and dumpling recipe is no exception. Corn, green beans, and carrots are typical veggies that are normally on hand in my kitchen. If you like another one, then please replace them equally. Having leftover vegetables from a Thanksgiving dinner is also a great way to use up more food and turn it into a new entrée.

Cost to make this recipe.
Purchasing large roasts and making several family dinners is the most economical way to feed my hungry crew. Large roast turkeys go on a fantastic sale during the Thanksgiving holiday. I can buy no hormone turkey for $0.39 per pound at our local grocery store. So, a typical 20-pound turkey can cost me only $8.00 for a whole ton of meat. I love to buy 3-4 roasts and keep them in our chest freezer for use throughout the year. This meat will make many dinners and lunches. But seriously we all won’t want to eat it the same way on day three if I don’t change up it up somehow.
And since this recipe takes leftover turkey meat from a said roast, I don’t tally up the cost of the meat when deciding the cost of it all. All the herbs, spices, and vegetables that make up the bulk of this recipe grown in a personal garden like at this homestead. This is a great recipe to use up those homegrown vegetables that you have either canned or frozen.
