Whipping Cream Pound Cake Recipe
This whipping cream pound cake is a delectably dense pound cake and goes with any type of topping including ice creams, fruit pie filling, flavored puddings, or plain. Typically, a pound cake is not baked with any liquids. It is just butter, sugar, eggs, flour, and baking powder. This cake, on the other hand, has heavy cream or whipping cream.
Whipping cream pound cake is also baked a little differently than others before its kind. Instead of putting the raw cake into a preheated oven, you put this one into a cold oven. Once in the oven then you turn it on set to 350 degrees F. I am not exactly sure why this method is necessary from this recipe. I have found that cold oven baking, as it is called, is an old-fashioned way to bake pound cakes. It also takes much longer to bake, an extra 30 minutes. But I believe that the extra thirty minutes is the time for the oven to preheat properly then start the main baking process. But that is just a guess.
As for this homestead, we are in love with this recipe. When desserts are served at this homestead, more than likely it is a pound cake. One of my favorite pound cake that I make all the time is our Cinnamon Roll pound cake. The three girls living in this homestead also absolutely love chocolate, anything chocolate. But the husband is a different story. He runs, screaming from chocolate anything. So I usually need to come up with something that will suit his sweet tooth, and this recipe was one of his favorites.
Cost to make this recipe.
Most of this whipping cream pound cake is made up of dairy items and eggs. We don’t have a dairy homestead, so the majority of the ingredients need to be purchased at the grocery store. The eggs are the only thing we raise, and that cost can vary.
I calculated the cost of this dessert below in the ingredients list. I came up with the entire cake costing roughly $7.80 or about $0.49 per cake serving slice. Not too bad for a sweet dessert that is delicious and relatively inexpensive.
