Delicious maraschino cherry sugar cookie bars baked into a bar mixed with marachino cherries and topped with sweet cream cheese frosting and colored sprinkles.
Drain and chop cherries into quarters or ⅛. Place cherries in colander and rinse well. Set aside for later.
Cream 1½ sticks butter and sugar together. Add in eggs, extract, flour, baking powder, and salt. Blend all into a moist cookie dough then fold in cherries.
Press dough into greased 9x13 baking sheet. Bake at 350 °F for 20 minutes. Set baking sheet on cooling rack and let bars cool completely.
Frosting
Beat cream cheese, ½ stick butter, extract, and powdered sugar until frosting is made and is spreadable. Spread frosting on bars while slightly warm or cool. Shake on red sprinkles and enjoy.
