Grease four ramekins and set aside. Preheat oven 350 °F.
Combine all cake ingredients (⅔ cup all purpose flour, 1 tbsp baking powder, ⅓ cup brown sugar, 1½ tbsp butter, ⅓ cup milk, ½ cup dried chopped dates, ¼ tsp ground cinnamon in a bowl, mix well. Divide cake batter into four greased ramekins.
In another bowl combine sauce ingredients (½ cup boiling water, ¼ cup brown sugar, 1 tbsp butter) and mix well. Pour even amounts on top of cake batter. Do not mix batter and sauce. The sauce will sit on top of the batter.
Bake in the oven for 20 minutes. Take out of the oven and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
