Ingredients
- 1 loaf loaf of French bread, ...[$2.00]
- 6 large eggs, ...[$1.38]
- 1 cup milk, ...[$0.23]
- ½ cup heavy cream, ...[$0.58]
- ½ cup white granulated sugar, ...[$0.15]
- 1½ cup brown sugar, ...[$0.71]
- 2 tsp vanilla extract, ...[$1.40]
- 1 cup all purpose flour, ...[$0.23]
- 2 tsp. cinnamon, ...[$0.08]
- 1 stick butter, cut up...[$1.00]
Instructions
- Grease an 8x8 casserole dish.
- Cut up the loaf of bread into ½ inch cubes or just tear piece of bread and layer in greased casserole dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine and blend eggs, white sugar, ½ cup brown sugar, vanilla, milk, and cream.
- Pour blended liquid over cut up bread and make sure all pieces are soaked.
- Cover casserole dish and put in refrigerate overnight.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, 1 cup brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Cut up the butter and add to bowl. Using a pastry blender, cut butter into mixture until it becomes crumbly.
- Sprinkle topping evenly over cold casserole and bake in the oven at 350 °F for 1 hour.
