Bratwurst Macaroni Cheese Recipe
Sometimes we have uncooked leftover bratwurst after a summer barbecue. Instead of eating them in a bun again, I like to change it up and cook them into more of a family meal, especially something the kids would eat. My kids love mac and cheese. So, I made bratwurst macaroni cheese with a beer cheese sauce.
First, I braised the bratwurst and veggies in beer, along with adding more beer into the cheese sauce. But don’t worry, it is for a light beer taste and cooked away, so it is safe for the kiddos. I don’t have a specific type of cheese that is a must for this recipe. Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese work perfectly in this recipe. If you want to try something more authentic German, then try Butterkase cheese as a substitute. I love it in my Sauerbraten Butterkase mac and cheese recipe.
