Brunswick Stew Recipe
My first experience with Brunswick stew was when I was dating my husband. His boss sent him home one night from work with a large Tupperware bowl filled with homemade Brunswick stew. The leftovers were superb. I then found out that this stew was one of my husband’s favorite winter meals.
Now, skip nearly a decade and you finally have me, his wife, making my Brunswick stew. It sure took me long enough to make a husband favorite…oops!
Unfortunately for the husband, I don’t get to make this recipe too often. It needs both leftover beef and leftover pork roasts to be perfect. I have used leftover chicken and turkey, too. And may I say, it is still quite good. But that means I need to have made a beef roast, a whole chicken, and/or a pork roast in the same week for me to have enough meat to make this recipe. So typically if I want to make this recipe, I like to plan on cooking my Roast Beef with Mushrooms and Red Potatoes, Rump Roast with Fried Cucumbers, and Apple Cider Glazed Pork Loin. Leftover Thanksgiving turkey also works perfectly, too.

Cost of this recipe.
The cost of this recipe is estimated at $18.03 for the entire stew. You can see my price breakdown for all the ingredients below in the recipe. The stew serves about eight healthy portions. So the cost per serving comes to around $2.25. That is a great price for a large bowl of Brunswick stew.
Unfortunately, there is no great or easy way to reduce the cost of this recipe. The majority of the cost comes from the two types of meat, leftover beef roast, and leftover pork roast. On this homestead, we don’t raise our beef or pork, so there is no great way for us to reduce our cost of this recipe. But it doesn’t stop me from making it.
