Gingerbread Sweet Bread Recipe
Gingerbread sweet bread is a delightful holiday treat, perfect for breakfast, a cozy dessert, or a simple, comforting snack. I have a deep fondness for gingerbread flavors and have explored them in many recipes over the years. My gingerbread pound cake and traditional German gingerbread cookies are two favorites. They complement this sweet bread beautifully. Together, they create a little collection of ginger-spiced delights. Each bite of the sweet bread carries warm, aromatic spices. These include ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. They evoke the holiday spirit and fill the kitchen with a comforting, festive aroma. The recipe brings both nostalgia and joy. It is perfect for sharing with family. You can also enjoy it alongside a steaming cup of tea or coffee.
Slices of this gingerbread sweet bread, carefully wrapped, make wonderful holiday gifts. Each year, I bake a couple of loaves to share with my daughters’ school during PTA holiday lunches. This gives the teachers a little taste of festive cheer. The warm, spiced aroma fills the room. The moist, flavorful slices always go over like gangbusters. They disappear almost as quickly as they’re set out. It’s a simple yet thoughtful way to spread holiday joy. It combines the comfort of homemade baking with the delight of giving. It never fails to bring smiles all around.
I also like to make this bread in a healthier way. I substitute the white and brown sugars with equal parts Swerve sugar. It doesn’t make this recipe a keto option. It is not a low carb choice because it has all-purpose flour. However, this substitution lowers the sugars.
Cost to make this recipe.
Calculating the ingredients of this recipe, I came up with each loaf costing around $3.63. I can cut about eight thick slices from the loaf, making each slice around $0.45.
As homesteaders, we raise our eggs and make our applesauce and vanilla extract. These ingredients can reduce the price of this sweet bread by $3.88, making the new price about $1.69 per loaf or $0.21 per serving slice.
