Oven Baked Ribs Recipe with Caramel Candy Barbecue Sauce
Caramel candy barbecue sauce draped over oven-baked ribs is a truly unique dinner experience. You simply have to taste it to believe it. At first, the idea might raise eyebrows—caramel candies in barbecue sauce?—but the result is surprisingly delicious. Unlike traditional tomato-based sauces, this version achieves a perfect balance. The sweetness of the caramel and ketchup blends harmoniously with the tang of apple cider vinegar. It also combines with the savory depth of Worcestershire sauce. The ribs come out tender and flavorful. They are coated in a sauce that’s both unexpected and unforgettable. This offers a twist on a classic favorite that’s bound to impress.
The original recipe from Goetze’s Sweet Cream website calls for adding 30 whole candies. This makes for an intensely sweet sauce. I’ve cut that amount in half, which still delivers that rich, caramel flavor but with far less sugar. The result is a balanced, indulgent sauce that enhances the ribs without overwhelming them. Try it on your next batch of ribs. You can also use it on any grilled meats. Experience the perfect mix of sweet, tangy, and savory in every bite.
Cost to make this recipe.
My calculation making this dinner entrée comes to about $16.17 for one rack of ribs that serves four or about $4.04 per serving size. For this homesteader, there aren’t too many ingredients that I make here for free besides all the seasonings. I grow and make my onion and garlic powder, and paprika. Unfortunately, that only saves us $1.32 for the entire recipe. The rack of ribs and ketchup are the two main ingredients. They make up the bulk of the price. I don’t make either of them.
