Puff Pastry Donuts Recipe with Whipping Cream Icing
Puff pastry donuts, have you ever heard of such a thing? Well, now you have, and you have to make these amazing and delicious treats. First of all, these donuts are super easy and fast to make. If you purchase the store-bought puff pastry, then it will save you buckets of time from making your own. Just pull out a sheet from the refrigerator or freezer as you need it. The icing can whip up in a few minutes, and the donuts take no time at all to fry up and cool down.
These treats are also uniquely delicious. They taste nothing like baked cake donuts or the yeast fried donuts. Puff pastry donuts are light and flaky. They almost melt in your mouth.
And the whipping cream icing is very unique compared to the usual powdered sugar and milk icing. The whipping cream has a higher fat content makes a thick icing so you will need to add more heavy cream than you usually would add regular milk. The icing tastes just like liquid whipping cream. It is so delicious you might just put it on everything that calls for icing or frosting. I accident
An important trick to make these is to keep the puff pastry dough cold. The dough will not rise when fried if the dough is room temperature or warmed. You need to keep all the sheets in the freezer or refrigerator as long as you are not using them. Take out the pastry sheets as soon as you are ready to cut out your donuts using 3-inch Stainless Steel Donut Cutter with Handle. If the cut donuts get warmed up too much, then you should put them on a baking sheet and back in the freezer or refrigerator for 10 minutes. The donuts need to go into the hot oil very cold to puff up and rise properly.
Cost to make this recipe.
The cost to make this recipe is about $6.38 for 18 puff pastry donuts or about $0.38 per donut. This cost is if you purchase all the ingredients, including the puff pastry. If you make your own, then the cost could be reduced. As a homesteader, there aren’t too many ways for me to reduce the price any further.
