Texas Sheet Cake Brownies Recipe

The one important thing to remember with this recipe is that you need to pour warm frosting over warm brownies. The frosting will melt slowly into the top of the brownie and come together as one brownie piece instead of just brownie with frosting on top. As it all cools, the butter will let the icing harden and make a nice sweet frosting crust over soft, fudgy brownies.
Adding the frosting this way is also important to not take out the brownies from their pan. The frosting needs to be contained by the higher lip of the baking pan or casserole dish. This is precisely how the proper Texas sheet cakes are made.

Instructions
Brownies
- Preheat oven to 350 °F and grease a 9×12 baking pan with raised sides. Don’t use baking sheet.
- Slowly melt chocolate in a medium bowl over a boiling saucepan of water. Stir often.
- In another bowl blend all the remaining brownie ingredients together. When chocolate is melted, add to the brownie batter and stir.
- Pour brownie batter into greased pan and bake for 20-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Chocolate Icing
- While brownies are baking, melt butter in a medium bowl and whisk together remaining icing ingredients. Keep icing warm to keep butter melted.
- When brownies come out of the oven, immediately pour warm chocolate icing on top and over brownies in baking pan. Let brownies completely cool and then cut and enjoy.
