Vanilla Glazed Pork Chops with Caramelized Onions and Apples Recipe
Recently, I decided to pull out my old but trusty Cooking Light cookbooks. I went through them and found some recipes that I had wanted to try for a while. While looking through the book, I found this little number, vanilla glazed pork chops.
I was a little unsure of how great this recipe would come out and how much the family would enjoy it. The husband doesn’t like sweet flavors when it comes to the dinner entrees. Vanilla glaze sure does sound like a dessert-like meal.
But come dinner time, we were all pleasantly surprised by how great the recipe was. The vanilla flavor does shine throughout and complimented well with the cinnamon and apple topping. The onions help give a balance to the sweet flavors and goes great with either pork or chicken breasts.
I adapted the recipe from my 2006 Cooking Light cookbook. The original recipe is a bit different than my recipe below. The original recipe called for more expensive ingredients that I can’t readily find at my grocery store. It calls for Cipollini onions, Madeira wine, and vanilla bean.
Cost to make this recipe.
I found this recipe to be relatively inexpensive and calculated the cost to be around $6.86 or $1.72 per serving size. There are not too many of homesteader’s cost-cutting ingredients. We grow apples and onions so that saves a little.
We love to hear from you, so comment and rate the recipe down below. Also, check out more of our skillet meal recipe blog posts.
